Supervisors approve bridge detour agreements and $108,653 in road equipment purchases

Marshall County supervisors approved two agreements compensating the county for DOT detours used on Highway 14 projects and authorized three equipment purchases for secondary roads.
County Engineer Paul Geilenfeldt told the Board the BRFN-014-6(44)—39-38 agreement covers compensation related to a bridge replacement over Wolf Creek, and a separate NHSN-014-5(084)—2R-64 agreement covers a shorter pipe culvert job that lasted about 30 days. Both agreements were approved by voice vote, 3–0.
The Board also approved purchases of road equipment: a Ford F-550 SuperCrew Cab chassis from Stivers Ford (Waukee) for $58,253.00; a John Deere R240 disc mower from Van Wall Equipment (Marshalltown) for $16,500.00; and a Land Pride RCPM3760 hydraulic parallel arm rotary cutter from Central Iowa Farm Store (Marshalltown) for $33,900.00. Geilenfeldt said the mower and cutter will replace worn equipment and improve operator safety; he said the F-550 is expected to be delivered in June.
