Council approves interlocal ambulance aid agreement with South Weber

The South Ogden City Council on Oct. 1 approved Resolution 24‑30, an interlocal agreement that formalizes automatic ambulance aid between South Ogden and neighboring South Weber for the canyon area from Highway 89 toward Mountain Green.
Warwick Fire Department Chief Storey told the council the arrangement dates to about 2018 as an informal agreement and that the resolution simply puts the understanding on record to comply with dispatch and GRAMA requirements. “There’s no cost to us,” Chief Storey said when asked whether the agreement would change city costs. He added the formal agreement could reduce duplicate runs and improve response coordination in a canyon area with complicated dispatch boundaries.
The council moved and seconded the resolution and conducted a roll‑call vote. Council members called during roll call—Council member Smythe, Council member Stevens, Council member Howe, Council member Stewart and Council member Howard—voted yes, and the resolution was adopted. The agreement assigns responsibility for ambulance response and billing to South Weber when they transport patients from within the covered canyon zone.
