Brandon Young elected chair as Abilene Landmarks Commission refreshes officer slate

During the meeting the commission completed its officer elections. Tammy Kister was nominated and approved as chair pro tem, and Shaylee Allen was nominated and approved as deputy pro tem.
Commissioners discussed whether to elect a full slate at once or vote position-by-position; the group decided to vote for chair first and then other positions. The commission also noted that new officers would receive a binder/guide to help them run meetings and fulfill signature duties.
The new officers will preside at future Landmarks Commission meetings; commissioners emphasized that retaining standing committees and staff support will ease the transition.
