Residents complain of unsafe conditions, trash and traffic at two South Cle Elum properties

Multiple South Cle Elum residents told the Town Council on March 3 that conditions at two properties — identified during public comment as belonging to Ian Adcox and Jason Higginbotham — are creating safety and health concerns for nearby neighbors.
Residents including Wes Willette (212 Sixth), Les Nelson (704 Broadway), Harry Nelson (606 Washington), Tim DeHart (603 Washington), Byron Parks (604 Washington), Drew Cushing (713 Garfield), Russ Libby (716 Broadway), James and Karen Adams (603 Madison) and Tony Ditsworth (702 Washington) reported that heavy foot and vehicle traffic at the properties occurs “all day and all night,” that garbage has piled up and attracted rats, and that people were living in trailers parked in alleys. Speakers also reported witnessing drivers run stop signs and, in some instances, suspected people were driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The complaints were raised during the public-comment portion of the meeting and were directed at ongoing enforcement actions the town has under way. Council members thanked residents for attending and voicing their concerns and later addressed enforcement actions, including a vote not to grant more time on one Notice and Order to Correct Violation and the scheduling of a mitigation hearing for another property.
