Summer Wilkes, Purcellville’s Director of Planning and Community Development, briefed the commission on Loudoun County’s arts plan and related materials provided in the packet. Wilkes said Purcellville submitted its local arts-council projects and participated in interviews with the county consultant.
"We were contacted by their consultants back in July," Wilkes said, and she urged commissioners and residents to use the county survey and the packet materials to inform local input. Wilkes noted the survey closes on December 1 and encouraged commissioners to share the survey with neighbors. The staff report included the consultant scope (RFQ) and a handout listing projects the Purcellville Arts Council proposed for 2024.
Wilkes told the commission the planning role is primarily to monitor and cross-fertilize county findings into the town’s planning process so local cultural and historic resources are represented in the county effort. Commissioners took the briefing as informational and had no immediate policy votes on the arts plan.
