Council directs rewrite of interim administrator contract; Ogden Murphy Wallace agreement to be filed

Councilmember Peter Sharp presented the earlier contract between Ryan Cox and the City from when Cox served as Interim City Administrator and asked the council to consider using that template. City Attorney Norton said he would rewrite the contract to limit an interim’s service to the period before a mayor is appointed; the item was tabled for review at the next regular meeting to allow councilmembers time to examine the draft and consider budget implications.
Councilmember Woodhouse specifically asked that the budget be checked “if the City can afford this expense,” and the minutes record the council’s desire to review the proposed terms before approval. The City also reported receipt of a contract dated August 8, 2024, from Ogden Murphy Wallace; the contract will be signed by the parties and filed with the City.
