The Harvey County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Feb. 4 to join the Kansas Natural Resource Coalition and authorize payment of the $5,000 membership fee. Assistant County Administrator and Finance Director Shannon Kingsley told the board the fee is not included in the 2025 budget but that savings in other areas appear sufficient to cover the cost.
Commissioner Terry Scott moved to approve joining KNRC and paying the $5,000 fee; Commissioner Becky Reimer seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting packet included an invoice and a description of KNRC’s mission as an association of counties engaged in state and federal policy coordination. Kingsley said staff would identify the appropriate budget source (general fund reserves or capital funds) to cover the expense.
