The council approved Resolution 26‑R‑37 confirming an economic revitalization area (ERA) and Resolution 26‑R‑38 to authorize two memoranda of agreement between the City of Elkhart and Lake Copper Conductors LLC.
Drew Wines of Economic Development described the planned investment: approximately $3.1 million in real property improvements (building expansion), about $5.3 million in personal property for a new production line, and roughly 22 new jobs with an average salary of about $71,000. Wines said the abatement terms include three years for real property and three years for personal property.
Council asked clarifying questions about the size and timing of investments and the length of abatements; staff confirmed details and the council then voted 8–0 to approve both resolutions.
