Planning Commission keeps Jeremy Carter as chair, names George Pechmann vice-chair

The South Salt Lake City Planning Commission on Jan. 15 voted unanimously to appoint Jeremy Carter as chair for 2026 and George Pechmann as vice-chair.
Commissioner Mary Anna Southey moved to appoint Carter as chair; Commissioner George Pechmann seconded. The commission then voted unanimously to approve the motion. In a subsequent vote, Commissioner Pechmann was appointed vice-chair by motion of Commissioner Southey and a second from Commissioner Slifka. The commission also approved the Nov. 6 and Dec. 4, 2025 meeting minutes during the same session.
The appointments follow the Commission’s routine January organizational business and were approved with all four members present voting in favor. Staff said the alternate-appointment process is underway following a recent resignation that impacted eligibility for the chair role.
