South Sanpete board accepts budget report; district reports $41.7M in revenue year‑to‑date

District finance staff reviewed fiscal-year-to-date numbers and the board accepted the budget report at its March 11 meeting. Jake (district finance staff) told the board: "Year to date, we have spent 35,200,000 and we have received 41,700,000 in revenues," and gave a fund-by-fund breakdown for operating (Fund 10), correctional education (Fund 22), debt service, capital projects and child nutrition.
Jake said salaries year-to-date are up roughly $1.4 million compared with the prior year while benefits are lower after a change in insurance carriers. He also warned the net impact of the recent legislative session was not final: "The WPU increased 4.2%. They did cut some other programs," he said, and the district will receive final allocation numbers from the State Office of Education in April.
Board members asked how legislation will affect the budget and Jake confirmed some targeted program cuts (notably digital teaching-and-learning items) may reduce district receipts despite the WPU increase. After discussion the board moved and approved the budget report as presented.
