The South Sanpete School District Board unanimously approved the district budget report and a set of purchases during its Sept. 10 meeting.
Jake, the district business manager, told trustees the fiscal-year snapshot through Aug. 31 showed the district’s cash and activity as the school year opened, and he confirmed the auditors from Gilbert and Stewart, CPA will be onsite Sept. 16–17 to begin the FY audit. After discussion, the board voted to approve the purchase of one replacement bus for next year and to replace three aging side-by-side vehicles. On the bus, administrators noted added features including adaptive cruise and lane-assist; board members also discussed capacity choices and maintenance considerations. A motion to approve the bus purchase carried by voice vote. On side-by-sides, administration recommended three Can-Am units from a local supplier; the board approved that purchase by voice vote as well.
The board also approved routine warrants, overnight/150-mile trip requests for athletic competition, and a slate of new hires listed in the board packet. Chair called for a closed session later in the meeting for personnel and health-related matters; the board returned and approved the hiring recommendations before adjourning.
