Greenbrier officials recognize police investigation and announce benefit tournament, parks projects

Police Chief Buster Locklayer recognized Deputy Chief Allen, Detective Chelini and Detective Tate for investigative work that located a sex offender in Canada; the department said it is working to return the suspect to Robertson County for prosecution.
Chief Locklayer also announced that Greenbrier will host a benefit softball tournament for Officer Hillis on Aug. 1, 2026 at Louise Martin Park; the minutes state five teams from law-enforcement, public-safety and EMT organizations will participate and proceeds will go to Officer Hillis and his family. Parks Director Rory Osborne described a schedule of youth tournaments (6U/8U softball June 11–13; 8U baseball June 18–20), a spring ball banquet June 5 with a movie screening of The Sandlot, a Brier Park Partners-funded lake cleanup and fishing-dock installation with a fish fry fundraiser on Sept. 26, and a grant-funded basketball court installation at Louise Martin Park projected to start in October.
