Council approves $4.1 million midyear budget amendment to fund capital projects

The city’s director of finance presented and the council approved a $4,100,000 midyear budget amendment directed at capital projects and capital purchases across several funds. Finance Director Bridal Solis described funding sources as existing resources outside the general fund and outlined the allocation breakdown.

Key allocations included $242,611 to the stormwater fund for a drainage study and land purchase; $250,000 in Type B funds (including $100,000 for Cedar Bark Park turf and $150,000 for a Cedar Park Youth League conditions assessment); $398,096 net in the Vehicle and Equipment Services fund for a sewer vacuum truck (with insurance proceeds covering the remainder); $575,000 in the Parks Capital Project Fund (including $200,000 for Brushy Creek Sports Park improvements and $375,000 to complete the 'recreate' project, including HVAC redesign and a sprung floor); $1,250,000 for reclaimed water system improvements in the utility fund; and $1,400,000 for facilities capital (roof and HVAC work on Buildings 1 and 3).

Council opened and closed the public hearing on the amendment with no speakers and then approved the amendment on a first-reading action vote; the motion passed unanimously. Council thanked staff for ensuring funding came from non-general-fund sources and for stewardship of capital programs.
