Cedar Park reports positive employer sentiment, AI adoption trends and CP Works event plans

Victoria Dunlap, Cedar Park's Economic Development Manager, gave a midyear update on business retention and expansion outreach covering meetings with 39 employers from Oct. 1 through April 30 and highlighted sector engagement across life sciences, energy and advanced manufacturing.

Dunlap said 83% of surveyed employers have 100 or fewer full-time employees, 7% employ between 101 and 300, and 10% have more than 300. She told council staff observed a 50% increase in large employers operating in Cedar Park compared to the prior year and described employer sentiment as "overwhelmingly positive" with few neutral outlooks and no respondents indicating a negative outlook for the coming year. On technology, Dunlap said AI is being used to improve productivity and streamline processes, with employers largely training staff on multiple AI platforms but not expecting significant headcount reductions over the next two to three years.

Dunlap also previewed CP Works, a fall workforce and employer engagement event that will include keynote speaker Mark Perna and a student panel to showcase local education-to-career partnerships. Council members praised the outreach and asked staff to continue reporting as trends evolve.
