Jim Murphy, a member of the Brown Township Board, told the council he had reviewed the Brownsburg Fire Territory interlocal agreement and urged officials to follow section 7.6, which he said requires the Executive Board to act by unanimous vote when considering certain recommendations. He said township reserves are being depleted and asked council members to follow the interlocal procedures.
David Ryan urged the council to clarify who will decide whether to move the fire headquarters and what criteria will govern that decision. He referenced cost figures Chief Larry Alcorn had provided at a recent meeting—roughly $10,000,000 for a new station and about $16,000,000 if the headquarters are moved—and said the council should factor those differences into decision-making. Ryan asked for a progress report at the next work session on criteria and parties responsible for the headquarters decision.
Council members and staff acknowledged the issue and said further discussion would take place at an upcoming work session. No formal action was taken during citizen comment.
