Brownsburg police introduce new forensics analyst and extend conditional offers to three candidates

At the June 9 meeting the commission approved a request from the chief to extend conditional offers to three candidates for sworn positions. Chair read a June 9 letter from the chief recommending offers for James Bradshaw, Carlos (Cabrera listed in the letter) and Bryce (last-name variants in the packet). A motion to accept the chief's recommendation was made, seconded and passed by voice vote.

The chief read key conditions that must be met before an appointment: satisfactory results of a truth-verification exam, drug testing, a psychologist's clearance licensed by the Indiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, a post-offer medical assessment determining fitness for duty, and execution of an employee training agreement under which a new hire may be required to reimburse training costs if they separate within 36 months. "Please beware that this letter does not constitute a guarantee of contract of employment," the Chair read from the letter, noting the appointment will be probationary for one year pursuant to cited Indiana code.

The chief then introduced forensics/CSI staff member Brett Seach, who said, "My name is Brett Seach," and thanked the commission. Seach has completed his conditional-offer requirements, the chief said, and the department will seek commission approval in coming months to authorize forensics personnel as reserve officers after state requirements and refresher training are met. Chief also reminded candidates to prepare for a 16-week NAL academy expected in mid-August.
