City proclaims August 4 as National Night Out; Lakeland Park to host event

Councilmember Duffy presented a proclamation recognizing August 4, 2026 as National Night Out in Cedar Park and announced the city will host the event at Lakeland Park for the first time there. "National Night Out...offers an opportunity to recognize their commitment and service," Duffy said while framing the event as a community-building campaign among law enforcement, civic groups and residents.
Sergeant Zander described operational plans and community outreach: the event will include cooling stations and snow-cone distribution and the department is experimenting with a single-site model this year to try to re-energize participation. Councilmembers encouraged neighborhood participation and discussed the timing and logistics, acknowledging weather and neighborhood preferences as planning considerations.
The council formally approved the proclamation and staff said they are working to promote the event at community venues and through the city newsletter.
