The Brownsburg Fire Territory presented a proposal to build Station 134 to cover a southern/southeast gap in the town’s coverage area, with the fire chief estimating construction costs at about $10,000,000 and cautioning the project will require a bond and interlocal agreement among the town and two townships.
"It's $10,000,000," Glenn Alcorn said while reviewing the design and financing slides, and he added that combining the station with a headquarters would raise the total by roughly $6.5–$7 million depending on square footage. Alcorn said the territory has already purchased two parcels across from the Raceway Park entrance (about 5.8 acres total) and a design committee and owner’s representative (Kramer Companies) are in place; Williams Architect was selected for station design.
Alcorn said the design process could take up to six months and emphasized the project depends on all three participating units agreeing to incur debt: "If that doesn't happen, then the station can't happen. It's an all‑or‑none type of thing." Town and township members said they expect each entity to have “skin in the game” and asked for detailed bond payment scenarios and what each unit would contribute.
Council members and township representatives agreed to continue the discussion and work with clerks, treasurers and counsel to produce numbers and options. The group scheduled a follow‑up meeting in about 60 days to review financial scenarios and outstanding questions.
