DeSoto council unanimously canvasses runoff, declares Parrette Parker elected to Place 2

"I move that we accept the canvassing results as presented," Mayor Proctor said before the council voted to accept the canvass.
The City Secretary read the certified totals: "The certified results for the election are as follows: Cora Gardner 985 votes, 44.90; Council member Parker 1,209 votes, 55.10%," which the council accepted and recorded. The city staff noted that Article 3, Section 5 of the city charter and the Texas Election Code require the council to canvas election returns and declare official results; council members concluded the single-item meeting and adjourned at 5:03 p.m.
The council’s action formally establishes the official tabulation for the special runoff and declares Parrette Parker elected to the council seat for Place 2. No amendments or objections to the canvass were recorded during the meeting, and the mayor closed the meeting immediately after the vote.
