Staff explained the change was necessary because the legislature no longer allows fees based solely on linear feet. "Historically with public works fees, we were charging by linear foot ... the legislature actually, doesn't allow for that anymore," staff told the council, and said the new schedule estimates inspection effort in half‑ and full‑day units to align with allowable fee structures.
Council voted to adopt the ordinance (Ordinance 20260721) on a voice vote. Staff said one clerical modification to the fee schedule remained to be made before final distribution of the packet.
