EMA briefs board on volunteer management training, tornado drill and upcoming ICS-300 course

Marshall County Emergency Management updates at the March 23 Board of Health meeting focused on preparedness training and scheduled exercises. Kim Elder reported attending a volunteer reception training in Story County that will help the county’s CERT team manage volunteers during disasters, and reminded the board that Severe Weather Awareness Week runs March 23–27 with a statewide tornado drill scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 at 10 a.m.
Elder also said ICS-300 training will be provided at the MCSO from March 31 to April 1 and that an Iowa State University foreign animal disease training will take place in the second week of April. She noted a joint meeting between Marshall County and the City of Marshalltown regarding EMS essential services on March 24 at 5:30 p.m., with Marshall County EMA participation and remote viewing available.
