Board advances sharps-disposal agreement with McFarland Clinic; BOS slated to consider March 25

Marshall County Public Health presented a finalized sharps-disposal interagency agreement with McFarland Clinic at the March 23 board meeting. The original request to place the community sharps bin on county grounds was denied; the parties agreed to site the bin on McFarland Clinic property where it will remain accessible to the community. Marshall County Public Health will maintain the bin, supply small sharps containers and provide community education.
The agreement was drafted by County Attorney Jordan Gaffney and returned to McFarland Clinic for corrections; staff reported the final draft is ready and the board authorized the BOH chair to sign so the agreement can be sent to the Board of Supervisors agenda for March 25 for approval. Kim Elder made the motion to authorize the chair to sign; Jim Goodman seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Staff also reported an additional $30,000 in opioid-settlement funding to purchase Stop the Bleed kits for county school buses and transport vehicles; the health department will work with EMA and the Sheriff’s office to provide training to Marshall County school districts before distributing kits.
