Council renews school resource officer contract with Dublin City Schools

Deputy Chief Tabernick described the long‑standing program — now in its 28th year — and said SROs provide safety, mentorship and youth engagement. "One of the strengths of Dublin's SRO program is the continuous collaboration between police personnel, school administrators, teachers, students, and parents," Tabernick said. Council members commended the program and approved the resolution by roll call.
The agreement continues full‑time SRO assignments at each Dublin high school and middle school, with SROs supporting elementary schools as assigned. Staff said the program would continue to emphasize collaborative safety planning, micro‑mobility education, mental health awareness and participation on multidisciplinary threat assessment teams.
