Hughes Road drainage work nearing completion; mayor urges patience amid weather delays

He said temporary detours using Robinson Road were installed to avoid a multi-mile diversion and acknowledged those temporary repairs have deteriorated in recent rain.
Magdaleno described the drainage features already working in wet weather—‘‘I’ve got plenty of video and pictures of this water moving through these RCBs… and going to the outfall and getting in our bayou. So it’s working,’’ he said—and asked residents for patience while crews complete the overlay work. Council members pressed for clearer communication about detour timing; the administration said it would send text alerts and post updates to social media when firm dates for work and lane changes are available.
