Residents urge the commission to protect Lambert Park trails and seek neighbor input

At the public hearing on the proposed Lambert Park turnaround, resident Andrew Young said the project lacked nearby resident input and suggested the commission speak directly with neighbors to understand their needs. Young told the commission, “the big piece I missed in all of that was there was no resident, input,” and urged door‑to‑door outreach to determine acceptable designs.
Cheryl Dame, another resident, said she’s lived in Alpine for three decades and called Lambert Park “one of the greatest assets the city has,” asking commissioners to ensure any change preserves public access and trails. Commissioners acknowledged the comments and asked staff to factor trail impacts into any recommendation to City Council; the commission later voted 4–1 to recommend denial of the current proposal and asked staff to return with written fire‑marshal input and any ordinance citations that would allow exceptions.
