Residents urge council to stop installation of large private pool slide they call code‑violating

"This slide is in violation of the current required setbacks in the development code," resident Kodruta Boggs told the council, citing sections she included in a packet to council members. Boggs said the slide includes a standing platform and is not the "short ancillary structure" the ordinance’s exception contemplated; she argued the platform and railings make the structure much taller than the exception allows and said the slide would overlook her backyard.
A neighbor who said he first noticed assembly of the structure on Dec. 4, 2024 said he reported it to planning staff and the mayor and did not receive sustained follow‑up. He and other commenters said the slide was not shown on submitted pool plans. City staff and council discussed enforcement limits for installations already built; staff noted some installations may be legal nonconforming if permitted before a code change but said they will research the permitting history and next steps for compliance or remediation.
The council did not take immediate enforcement action at the meeting but instructed staff to follow up on permitting records and to advise residents on the process for code enforcement and potential remedies, including permit review and any steps required to bring the installation into compliance or to document nonconformance.
