Summary
Alpine City Council approved its consent calendar July 8, including two interlocal agreements: a Utah County recreation grant the city will apply toward lighting upgrades at Burgess Park’s tennis and pickleball courts and a $1,000,000 interlocal grant for street maintenance with a three‑year reimbursement window. Acting mayor pro tem opened the July 8 council meeting and the body approved the consent calendar after a brief staff explanation of two interlocal agreements.
City staff described the recreation grant as a small annual allocation that the city has been saving for a park project; the funds were proposed to pay for lighting upgrades at Burgess Park’s tennis and pickleball courts. "We've kinda saved ours for, like, 5 years because it's only 5,000 a year or something like that," staff said, adding the city applied and the county accepted the project request. Staff told council the county prepared the interlocal agreement and recommended adding a signature block for the city attorney before execution.
Council also approved an interlocal agreement tied to street maintenance in the amount of about $1,000,000. Staff said the program requires the city to front costs and submit reimbursement requests to the county and that the award carries a three‑year window for spending. Councilmember Brent Rummler moved to approve the consent calendar with edits to the minutes and the added signature requirement; the motion passed unanimously by roll call.
Council directed staff to finalize the attorney signature block and to make any other technical adjustments before the agreements are executed. No council votes on personnel or policy changes were required as part of the consent calendar action. The contracts will return to the file once signed and the projects will be scheduled into the city’s capital work plan as staff coordinates design and procurement.
