Mayor Ron Jensen urged Grand Prairie residents to recycle their real Christmas trees rather than discard them in household trash. "You can drop off your real tree at the Grand Prairie Landfill or place it curbside on your regular garbage collection day," Jensen said, adding that collected trees are recycled into mulch and the landfill "offers free mulch to all Grand Prairie residents."
Jensen provided practical rules for participation: remove all ornaments, stands, plastic bags or other synthetic materials before drop-off; do not bring artificial trees or trees sprayed with fake snow, which the city cannot accept.
