Mayor Ron Jensen opened his January 2026 message with a New Year greeting and a brief overview of programs and events for Grand Prairie residents. "Once again, happy new year to all, and remember to be kind, stay safe," Jensen said.
The mayor highlighted several practical reminders and community events: how to recycle real Christmas trees, a Martin Luther King Jr. parade on Jan. 19 beginning at 10 a.m., a series of Black History Month events in February, and a three-week Lunar New Year festival at Asia Times Square from Feb. 6 through Feb. 22. He also thanked volunteers and partners for supporting WFAA's Santa's Helpers drive-thru at Epic Central, which he said helped thousands of local children.
