Summary
At its July 28 meeting the commission approved minutes, recommended approval of a PD amendment for a playground (Z1556‑26) and a specific‑use permit for an ADU (Z1557‑26); both zoning items were recommended to city council unanimously.
The DeSoto Planning and Zoning Commission approved the consent agenda (minutes of July 14, 2026) and unanimously recommended two zoning requests to city council. The commission moved to recommend approval of a PD‑109 amendment to permit a private playground at the DeSoto House of Peace (zoning case Z1556‑26) and a specific‑use permit to convert a garage to an accessory dwelling at 1213 Hannah Circle (zoning case Z1557‑26). Both motions were moved, seconded and passed unanimously.
Staff noted that the PD amendment and SUP carry the standard caveat that site plans and construction are subject to trade review and permitting. The diagnostic report presented by Friese Nichols will be briefed to city council on Aug. 4 and the city expects responses to its RFP for the rewrite phase by Aug. 18.
