City staff say new drainage boxes are moving water; Hughes Road mill-and-overlay set to begin

Magalino said the city had obtained TxDOT approval for work under Highway 3 and used contingency funds to reduce detour impacts.
Council members asked how detours would affect emergency access for fire and ambulance services; staff responded the revised routing is intended to be minimal and to preserve eastbound emergency movements. Staff emphasized the schedule is weather-dependent but said the city aims to finish before school begins in mid-August. The mayor and staff said they will coordinate with the school district on timing and emergency access plans.
