Council canvasses May 2 results and certifies Karina Izeveda as Place 4 winner

The Hutto City Council voted unanimously to approve Resolution R-2026-113 to canvas the May 2, 2026 election returns and accept the results, certifying Karina Izeveda as the winner for Council Place 4.
City Secretary Laura Hallmark told the council that Izeveda received 54.34% of the vote for Place 4 and, after the canvas, would be sworn in at the council’s regular meeting on May 21. Hallmark also reported citywide turnout numbers: “As of this year in May, we had 23,984 registered voters. There were only 1,014 ballots cast, which is a 4.23% turnout,” she said. The motion to approve the canvas was moved, seconded and passed 7–0.
Council members thanked Hallmark for weekend and administrative work supporting the election process. The resolution as approved covers canvassing and declaring the results for the May 2 general election; the council took no further action on other election-related items at this meeting.
