Finance Director Jim reviewed a package of supplemental appropriations and transfers to update the 2026 budget. Items in the packet included a $110,000 appropriation for the senior center patio (with $100,000 coming as a Community Development Block Grant to the CDBG fund), $17,143.68 moved from a law enforcement assistance fund for police continuing professional training, and $2,800 in auction fees related to a sold police vehicle.
Jim also asked council to budget $35,000 to repair the Rose Music Center highway sign and to add $850,000 for three snow plow dump trucks to the public works capital plan; he said the trucks had been previously approved but not yet included in the 2026 budget. In addition Jim noted EDGE grant items (a $150,000 high‑tech award and a $75,000 award referenced earlier) will require interfund transfers so the city can advance costs and later be reimbursed by Montgomery County.
"I'll go through the ones that were in your packet, and then I have 3 additions, that I have, just been brought to my attention today," Jim said while outlining the transfers. He asked the council to waive second readings and approve the packet at the upcoming Thursday meeting to keep pace with the summer schedule.
Next steps: staff will bring the formal ordinances for approval at the scheduled meeting and requested a waiver of second readings to expedite the budget updates.
