Commission approves minutes, adds new member and hears staff planner hire update

At the start of the June 29 meeting the commission approved minutes from two prior meetings by voice vote. Chair conducted roll call and welcomed Billy Latimer as a recently appointed commissioner.
Travis (planning staff) updated the commission on staffing: the previously hired planner had resigned on day one and the city has selected a replacement who intends to start on July 6. As Travis told the commission, "Her name is Miss Brianna Barr. She holds a master's degree in urban planning." Commissioners expressed appreciation for the candidate and asked staff to prepare to integrate the new planner into upcoming UDC drafting tasks.
The meeting then moved to the substantive UDC amendments and mapping conversation; no final zoning actions were taken on June 29.
