SPID awaits DEQ letter; state asked for monitoring wells for proposed infiltration basin

District staff updated the board on sewer treatment options and permitting. The Department of Environmental Quality visited the district treatment site to review a proposed rapid infiltration basin and requested monitoring to assess total dissolved solids and water quality.
"At the conclusion of the meeting, they said that we probably at a minimum need to drill 3 monitoring wells," the general manager said, identifying desired locations at the parcel lift station and the north and west ends of the ponds, each approximately 30 feet deep. Staff said they were still waiting for DEQ to provide a formal follow-up letter, noting that sovereign-lands issues and fencing requirements north of I-80 could change feasibility and costs.
