Commission authorizes MSA and Lee’s Chicken owner to develop mural concept

The commission authorized staff’s recommendation to allow MSA, the design contractor, and Lee’s Chicken owner Chuck Duran to proceed in developing a mural concept for the restaurant on Chambersburg and work directly with local schools and athletic stakeholders. Sarah Forsyth, who put the item on the agenda, said the business owner "was ecstatic to hear about it" but the original student designer had fallen out of contact, so the commission needs a new design approach.
"I would like to request the board's permission to have MSA work directly with the schools and Chuck Duran," Forsyth said, proposing the commission reconvene to review concepts once developed. Commissioner Cheryl (Brandenburg) moved the motion and it was seconded; the chair called for aye votes and the motion carried. The commission asked staff to place the finished concept on a future agenda for formal approval before installation, and directed staff to coordinate with the owner and schools on the process.
