Huber Heights art show draws 30 adult entries; judges, volunteer plans set

The Huber Heights Parks & Recreation Commission heard an update that the spring community art show has 30 adult entries representing 14 adult artists, seven vendors and three youth entries so far. Parks staff said registration for youth art is open through the 28th and that drop-off and setup will begin Friday, May 1, with the public show running Saturday, May 2 from 1 to 5 p.m.
"We currently have 30 adult entries," said Melissa Quinn, who reported on participant counts and vendor registrations. Chair Sarah Chapman confirmed Lisa Hansen, CEO of CultureWorks, will serve as a guest judge for the event and said the commission will support volunteer staffing. Parks staff (Molly) outlined setup: volunteers start at 3 p.m. on Friday, artist arrivals at 5 p.m., and a closed jury from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday ahead of the 1 p.m. opening.
Commissioners agreed to staff a commission table at the show to collect signups for a proposed local art league and to use the event to distribute information about the yard-beautification awards. The commission also asked staff to circulate a volunteer schedule and to confirm whether scouts or local nonprofits might run a concessions table.
