Military & Veterans Commission reports vacancies, Memorial Day plans and honor wall progress

Charles Hancock, vice chair of the Military & Veterans Commission, briefed council on the commission's operations and outreach. Hancock said the commission currently has five active members and four vacancies; one commissioner is on a six-month deployment. He asked council and staff to help recruit additional members so the commission can regain quorum.
Hancock described partnerships that supported recent events, including the VA mobile vet center and the Red Cross, and updated council on the Duane High School honor wall: names submitted before Dec. 1, 2025, have been added and public showings have been held; the paver fundraising program accepts $125 orders through July 31 for placement next year. Hancock said the commission will continue Memorial Day planning and welcomed council assistance with communications and recruitment.
