Staff reported the city received a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant of $500,000 for a Phase 1 playground at Cloud Park and is coordinating with state and federal partners on contracting and planning. "We did receive word that we got a land and water conservation fund grant for $500,000 to proceed with a playground at Cloud Park," the staff member said.
The staff member told the board the playground is Phase 1 of park revitalization and that combined work will likely push ground-breaking into next year; the overall playground was estimated in discussion to cost "over $1,000,000." Staff said they are working with ODNR and the National Park Service on contracting steps and expect to move forward on planning after October, when project paperwork and federal/state steps are complete.
Board members asked about phasing, grant matches and related park investments; staff said additional grant match funds will be sought for a potential splash pad and site improvements.
