Owners, contractor describe soundproofing and safety plans for proposed iSMASH

Contractor Todd Atwood explained construction measures to mitigate sound: building an air gap and using double layers of soundboard with sprayed cellulose insulation between walls up to the roof deck. "It's about an air gap ... and then we just kinda overdo it with the double layer of soundboard with the insulation in between it," he said, and added that similar methods have worked on adjacent fitness facilities without complaint. The applicants also described reservation-based scheduling, staff training videos, and one-strike safety policies for intentionally unsafe behavior.
