Supv Goede elected Vernon County Board chair after secret ballot

Supv Goede was elected chair of the Vernon County Board of Supervisors after a secret-ballot election that produced a 10–8 vote over Supv Taylor. County Clerk Jerry Pedretti presided over the roll call and the nomination process before ballots were tallied and the result announced.
Clerk Pedretti had explained the majority rule and tie-breaking process in advance, and the board agreed to keep voting until a candidate received a majority. After the chair vote concluded, Chair Goede called for nominations for vice-chair; Supv Eggen nominated Supv Beitlich and, after no further nominations, a motion to cast a unanimous ballot for Supv Beitlich carried on a voice vote.
The chair and vice-chair elections followed standard organizational procedures for the board and were recorded in the meeting minutes. The board adjourned later in the meeting with the newly elected officers presiding for the remainder of the session.
