The Vernon County Board adopted Resolution 2024-36 on July 25 to ratify Addendum Two to the local-government Memorandum of Understanding for opioid-settlement proceeds, adding The Kroger Co. to the settlements included in the distribution framework.
Motioned by Supervisor Olson and seconded by Supervisor Slack, Administrative Coordinator Cassandra Hanan told the board that the county will receive $1,348,749 from the national settlement through 2038 under the allocation framework used by Wisconsin local governments. The addendum confirms that proceeds from the Kroger settlement will be distributed in the same percentages as set out in the existing MOU and Exhibit A.
The MOU and addenda set allocation percentages and provide for coordination among local governments and the State for escrow and disbursement mechanisms. The minutes show the board adopted the addendum by voice vote; they do not record a breakdown of how the county intends to expend the funds or any department-level appropriation at this meeting.
