NDDOT increases aid for Renville County safety project; county’s share estimated at about $550,000

Wold Engineering told the Board that bids for the Countywide Safety project exceeded estimates; NDDOT increased its commitment from $1,150,000 to $1,650,000, leaving an estimated county share of ~$400,000 for construction and ~$150,000 for engineering. Jason Mayfield of Wold Engineering reported that bids for the Countywide Safety project were higher than expected; to cover the additional costs the North Dakota Department of Transportation raised its contribution from $1,150,000 to $1,650,000. Mayfield said the county’s estimated portion is about $400,000 for construction plus roughly $150,000 for construction engineering, to be paid from the county’s "Prairie Dog" fund. The Board recorded a projected September 2025 start date.
Mayfield also said he will reapply to the Flexible Transportation Grant Fund for a Grano east/west widening project and will look for bridge projects that could qualify for grant funding. The Board did not take formal action beyond direction to pursue grant opportunities and to track project financing.
