The Vernon County Board approved multiple personnel policy revisions on Feb. 15 intended to clarify leave rules and administrative authority. Resolution 2024-11 revised Policy 405 (Bereavement) to standardize paid leave guidelines for employees, including allowable relationships and documentation requirements. Resolution 2024-12 amended Policy 409 (Leaves—Emergency Closings) to reflect the Administrative Coordinator’s role in closure decisions alongside the County Board Chair, and to clarify procedures for media notification and department responsibilities.
Resolution 2024-13 revised Policy 425 (Paid Leave Time) to create a Sick Leave Bank (SLB) separate from PTO and an Extended Leave Bank (ELB), allow automatic transfers of up to 40 hours into the SLB at year end (with opt-out available), and set accrual and payout provisions. The resolution text details accrual schedules, eligibility, and leave-donation procedures. All three policy revisions were presented by Administrative Coordinator Cassandra Hanan and adopted on voice votes with committee recommendations noted in the minutes.
