The Rolette County Board of Commissioners on March 18 unanimously approved a county Fire Emergency declaration and a seasonal burn restriction proposed by Emergency Manager Cody Mattson. The board voted to adopt the declaration after Mattson described the move as preparing in advance for the season.
Mattson told the board he was "just getting ahead of the game and getting it in place for the season." He also updated commissioners on related work, saying he is meeting later that morning to do a walk-through for a new remote courtroom emergency system and that local fire departments "received a grant to install better protection on water tanks." The board took the declaration as a motion from Commissioner LaRocque and recorded the action as passed on a roll call vote. The commission did not specify exact dates or particulars of enforcement in the meeting minutes; the declaration text was accepted "as presented."
