The Vernon County Board adopted Resolution 2024‑40 on Aug. 15, directing the county Solid Waste and Recycling Department to provide refuse and recycling collection at county‑owned buildings and facilities, excluding County parks, outlying highway locations and the Sheriff’s Office while an existing contract is in effect. Solid Waste and Recycling Director Stacie Sanborn presented the plan to the Board.
The Board amended the resolution to add the stated exclusions and then approved an amendment to transfer $11,500 from the contingency fund to the Solid Waste and Recycling Department’s 2024 expense budget to purchase necessary infrastructure. The amendments and final, twice‑amended resolution were adopted by voice vote. As written, the resolution also moves budget responsibility for these collection services from General Government (Building and Facilities) to the Infrastructure Committee.
