Director reports June rise in digital circulation, summer reading draws 108

Library Director Dawn Jardine reported that June visitation increased and digital materials circulation rose sharply while hardcopy circulation declined. Jardine said the summer reading program’s kick-off, held at the end of June, drew 108 attendees.
Jardine told trustees the library is beginning acquisitions for fiscal year 2027 and will ramp up ordering over the summer. Staffing updates: a vacant part-time position is posted and the director hopes to post a full-time Youth Services position soon. The trustees thanked staff for installing a Story Walk at the Ramsdell entrance and Jardine said plans are underway for a second Story Walk at Mason.
On facilities, Jardine reported physical-plant problems at Mason including an odor in the HVAC system and an out-of-order elevator; the Town has received two bids for elevator repair. The board noted these maintenance items while planning for service continuity during Ramsdell renovation.
