Commissioners approve $4.92M award for CR 3 and multiple road projects, equipment purchases

Commissioners also approved Change Order #2 adding reconstruction of 36th St NW with water‑soluble paint for lane lines, which reduced the contract with Jensen Brothers Construction by $20,944.90 and adjusted that contract to $6,184,105.47. Scott Duerre, Road & Bridge Superintendent, presented the bid and change‑order details during the May 20 meeting.
The board discussed fiber‑optic work and Right‑of‑Way approvals for RTC‑White Earth Bay; State's Attorney Wade Enget advised that Reservation Telephone Company must obtain U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approval before installing fiber in the county right of way.
Commissioners approved relocating electric distribution lines in connection with the CR 1 project with Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative (MWEC), authorizing up to $725,000 — not to exceed $800,000 — pending a cost breakdown. The board noted MWEC will cover about 50% of the relocation cost, and engineering firm Sauber Engineering will return a formal agreement for signature.
For routine maintenance and estate mowing needs, the board approved purchase of two Degelman mowers with side arms from Gooseneck Implement at an original price of $143,800 minus a $21,800 trade allowance for two Schulte mowers, for a net cost of $122,000.
Duerre said he will contact a surveyor to produce a quote to clarify encroachments in the Sanish right of way and bring that quote back to the commissioners. The meeting record shows all votes on these road and equipment items passed on recorded roll calls.
