The Renville County Board of Commissioners voted Sept. 3 to accept a coal bid from Minot Coal at $172.00 per ton for the 2024–2025 heating season. The motion to accept the bid was moved by Commissioner Andy Gates and seconded by Commissioner Jamee Hansen and carried by a unanimous vote.
The board recorded that the accepted price represents a $13.00-per-ton increase over the previous heating season. The decision followed the formal opening of bids at the Sept. 3 meeting. The acceptance was entered on the meeting record under the board's motions and will be processed through the county auditor's claims and warrants procedures.
