Board extends MOU to let Nanticoke Bayside Revitalization finish derelict-structure removals

Myra Riley Taylor, president of Nanticoke Bayside Revitalization, reported progress on a county-supported project to remove up to 22 derelict structures in the Bayside community and asked the board for more time to complete the work.
Taylor said the project has completed title searches for 22 structures (with some rework required for parcel errors), obtained 14 consent forms (8 still in progress), completed asbestos assessments on 12 structures and removed eight structures to date. "We have, actually submitted invoices for the pending amount," Taylor told supervisors and reported $76,349 expended to date and an advance of $4,500. She said one parcel contains asbestos in the siding and will require certified abatement before removal.
Taylor asked the board for an extension of the MOU so the nonprofit can finish the work; the board approved an amendment extending the period of performance to 03/12/2027 by motion and voice vote. Supervisor (mover) and a second were recorded on the floor and the chair declared the motion carried. After the vote, board members praised the group's work and thanked staff for coordinating.
Next steps: Nanticoke Bayside Revitalization will continue collecting consent forms and proceed with asbestos abatement and structure removals under the extended MOU. Staff will monitor invoices and project milestones.
